The lodge is in a beautiful location at the beginning of the Aufderheide Scenic Byway. It is across from the Office Covered Bridge, one of Oregons longest covered bridges which crosses the North Fork of the Middle Fork of the Willamette River. The lodge is surrounded by the Willamette National Forest and caters to mountain bike riders, motorcyclists, fly fisherman, hikers, road cyclists, car groups, reunions, and other gatherings.
Originally, the building was built as the office for the Western Lumber Company and remained a company office through the 1980's. Construction of the mill and the mill office began in 1922. The railroad started coming through the area in 1910-11. The building was remodeled into a bed and breakfast in 1990. The current owner, in 2015, improved the property significantly.
