Situated along the scenic Nubanusit River just one mile from downtown Peterborough, Little River B&B offers its guests a peaceful getaway as well as easy access to the quaint, yet lively town of Peterborough. Once a part of the MacDowell Artists Colony, this 1870s farmhouse was fully renovated in 2006 and has been continually updated since. Some of the updates include individual heating zones in guest rooms, a full fire safety sprinkler system, high quality insulated Marvin windows throughout, a re-graded and repaved parking lot and much more. Little River B&B offers four comfortably elegant guest rooms with modern amenities and ample additional guest space. For the innkeepers, there is a well-equipped open kitchen, laundry area, and plenty of storage, including a walk-in attic. The newly-built private and detached owners quarters are exceptional. The property is beautifully landscaped with mature trees and well-established perennial gardens, with abundant opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of the river. You can take a walk throughout both homes by viewing the 3D virtual tours on the listing site.
In the B&B, each of the four guest rooms currently features a Queen-size bed, attached private bath and either river views, a gas stove fireplace or both. Additional guest spaces include a light-filled dining room with an exterior deck overlooking the river, a living room with wood-burning fireplace, and a bright and airy second-floor sunroom. TheB&B has potential to expand to up to six guest rooms with a two bedroom suite (with private bath) on the third floor and an attached garage that could be turned into a private-entrance suite. Built new in 2014, the architect-designed Carriage House (owners quarters) has great natural light, views of the river with its changing wildlife, open floor plan for living, dining and cooking plus 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The Carriage House features maple hardwood flooring, a kitchen island with a butcher block top, a convenient laundry area, plus a garage with workshop space and patio along the river.
Peterborough, a quintessential New England town located in southern New Hampshire, is known as “Our Town” because Thornton Wilder spent many summers locally writing at the world-famous MacDowell Art Colony and Peterborough provided inspiration for his classic American play. The downtown is pedestrian-friendly and filled with independent shops and restaurants. The town and region are an arts and culture destination with its live theater, music, galleries, antique stores, etc. But there is more, the region is named for Mount Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in North America. In addition, there are many other fantastic state parks and lakes for hiking, kayaking, boating, fishing, fantastic fall foliage, cross-country skiing and all other things “outdoors”. Little River Bed & Breakfast is open year-round and is well-suited for both business and leisure travelers. Open for guests since 2007, Little River B&B offers a strong business with an excellent reputation and fantastic reviews.
