AMERICAN OUTBACK some call it.  The scenery is amazing.  Hiking like nowhere else. We are located on one of the most scenic highways in the world, Utah highway 12, between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef, in the center of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Hikers come from around the world.  Even with Europe's travel restrictions, business is great, as this is one of the most popular places for our fellow Americans to "get away from it all."  

ABOUT ESCALANTE:  This is a lovely community of 750 people, and so quiet at night for our guests.  We have everything we need, even farm-to-table restaurants nearby & amazing pizza.  We have a decent grocery store, a very nice hardware store, and delivery service from Amazon, Walmart & Costco.  But, you will have to drive at least an hour to a movie theater!   Many residents enjy a monthly trip 2 hrs 20 min to the "Big City" of Cedar City or St. George.  Others stock up, grow a garden and avoid the city.

DIVERSITY.  We have everything from mountains with fishing and hunting, to farms and ranches, canyons with waterfalls, hoodoos and arches,and fun slot canyons to explore.  Everything from Christians to athiests, conservatives and lIberals, artists and cowboys, young and old.... and we get along fine. 

ELEVATION & CLIMATE to enjoy nature YEAR-ROUND.  At almost 6,000 ft.  Spring and fall are lovely.  Summer stays under 100 degrees.  Winters get some snow, but rarely over 1 foot at a time.  More and more travelors are coming in winters months, so you can stay open or partially open as you wish, or go to Mexico for the winter.
