Built in 1893 by the Pryor family, and formerly known at the "Teacherage", housing local educators of the Shelby school district, The Pryor House entered a new stage of it's history as a B & B when it was lovingly restored in 2010-11 by Tom & Pat Honeywell.  The three storied Victorian mansion is owner occupied. 

The inn has been completely restored and up-dated to include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, windows, bath fixtures and kitchen.  Marble floors grace the foyer and front parlor. The large dining room has a beautiful built-in china hutch with stain glass doors.  Original fireplaces and ornate mantels are located in the front parlor and in the upstairs parlor.  Kitchen has stainless steel appliances and includes a butler's pantry, granite floor and countertops.  Upright energy efficient washer and dryer are in the main floor laundry.  A large wrap around patio is located at the back of the house and is surrounded by large perenial gardens, overlooking the lawn.  

Guest suites are located on the second floor accessed by both a back stair case and an open grand staircase with a small balcony over looking the foyer. The guest suites are each named after a teacher who lived in the house.  

The Bragg Suite, named for Pat's kindergarten teacher, features a beautiful Victorian fireplace in the sitting room, a reading nook in the bedroom and a large bathroom with an air-spa tub and walk-in shower.

Nancy' Nook is named for Pat's office education teacher and features a high-backed claw-footed slipper tub in the bath  The bedroom features a king bed and overlooks the west lawn with a sunny afternoon view through its long Victorian windows.

The Maid's room is a sunny room on the southwest corner of the house and shares the hall bath, 

Ernie's Attic, named for Pat's high school principal, is a large suite coving approx 1000 square fee on the third floor.  It features a sitting room with queen hide-a-bed, private bath and large bedroom with three reading nooks and two queen beds.

The inn is located one mile north of I-80 at Shelby, Iowa.  We have had quests from every continent except Africa and all across the USA.
