Ouray is located in southwestern Colorado on US Highway 550, approximately 80 miles north of Durango and 35 miles south of Montrose. Unlike other mining towns, Ouray never experienced a large fire and as a result, a significant number of 19th century commercial buildings remain in town. The entire town is listed on the National Register of Historic Districts. Ouray's million gallon Natural Hot Springs Pool is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and will be completed in 2017.
