Steeped in history, The Silver Thatch Inn had its beginning as a two-story log house built by Hessian prisoners captured at the Battle of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War in 1780. Later additions were made in 1812, 1937 and 1985. It opened as an inn in 1985.

Silver Thatch Inn is a full service country inn that is noted for its warm hospitality, relaxing accommodations, and fine dining. A member of Select Registry ~ Distinguished Inns of North America, the Inn has received the coveted Wine Spectator Award of Excellence annually since 1986 for its wine list and the Award of Distinction, since its inception in 2004, from Wine Enthusiast Magazine.

There are presently 7 guest rooms, all with private baths and some with fireplaces, each tastefully furnished with period antiques and family pieces. The inn seats @65 for dining in four romantic dining rooms. There is also an English pub where guests may come to relax and unwind before dinner.

The grounds are nicely landscaped and are complemented by numerous sitting areas tucked among the trees and gardens. Architectural plans for expanding the number of guest rooms have been reviewed by the county planners and are available to a new owner.
