Shepherdstown, the oldest incorporated town in West Virginia, is replete with history and charm and has gone through a renaissance in the last decade. There are many great shops and restaurants and there is a Farmers Market every Sunday April through December. The Shepherdstown University brings a nice touch of culture and academia to this beautiful piece of rural America.

A little bit of heaven is tucked away in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Less than 10 minutes from Shepherdstown is Hope Farm embracing 15 private and serene acres Winding your way along the tree lined lane your cares and worries of the day melt away. Your horses in the pasture to the left come up to welcome you. Rounding the corner the homestead comes into view. It’s great to be home.

Circa 1845 The brick manor house main level has a full bath, sitting room, dining room, parlor, sun porch and sunroom. There are three nice size bedrooms upstairs serviced by a full bath. During renovations in 2005 the owners constructed a two story eclectic hallway utilizing the outside brick wall of the Manor house ……..how cool is that! The marriage of old and new has been done with impeccable good taste incorporating functionality with history.

The new addition has a large and workable state of the art professional kitchen; the use of space makes preparing meals a snap. Built into the breakfast bar there is a European coffee bar and a convection oven. The family room with fireplace and large flat screen TV is a great place to hangout watching your favorite movie or reading a good book while being warmed by the fire. Upstairs there is a bedroom and full bath.

The Carriage House has four heated and air conditioned bays. The upstairs has a fully self contained apartment, au- paire suite, or Inn Keeper quarters. There is a spacious living room and dining room off the open Kitchen and Family Room. A deck off the Family room has a view of the beautiful pool area complete with a Tiki Bar and Outdoor Kitchen. Can’t you see your family enjoy this space on a hot summer’s day? You also can look out over the expansive pasture beyond.

The grounds of Hope Farm offer acres of open land for horses, gardening, or perhaps a vineyard. There is a lovely coy pond complete with waterfalls and lets not forget the gazebo under the majestic trees. The are two porches and several outdoor sitting areas.

Discover it all in West Virginia’s Eastern Gateway. About an hour from the Baltimore Maryland and DC corridor and also conveniently serviced by the Marc train from DC to Harpers Ferry or Shepherdstown. You can pursue your passion here, be it history and arts or outdoor activities. The Harpers Ferry C&O Canal is an afternoon of delight including a perfectly redone town center that brings one back to the mid 1800’s complete with shops old churches, a wax museum and modern amenities including art shops, restaurants, and ice cream stands. Over 20 Civil War sights have been identified and will soon be a part of the Civil War Trails program. A trip across the Potomac and you will be on the sacred grounds of Antietam Battle Field. Charles Town continues the history of John Brown with walking tours.

For the outdoor enthusiasts, the Blue Ridge Mountains and historic Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers provide breathtaking scenery as you tube or spend an afternoon rafting on the River, Or start the greatest hike of your life on the Appalachian Trail. If racing excites you a Day at the Motor Sport Park in Summit Point is an adventure, If evening entertainment and gaming are of interest, Charles Town Races and Slots will keep you busy and full with the huge Hollywood Buffets.
