Welcome to The Virginia Home Inn, established in 2012, with the current owners as a Bed and Breakfast, wtih fabulous dining and entertainment opportunities! Before I talk about the rave reviews the Inn has received over the past year, let me give you some history of his wonderful Inn.
The Virginia Home was built in 1920 for Marshall Fields to house women who worked in the local Fieldcrest mill, with 17 bedrooms and 2 baths, a very large dining room, parlor and kitchen (the last 3 rooms remain in place). It later became a boarding house for men and women who traveled through town, and was a community restauant on Sunday afternoons for many years after that. It was most recently purchased in 2009 and has undergone an very extensive remodeling, to become an outstanding Bed and Breakfast Inn. No professional advertising has been done to publicize the Bed and Breakfast, but word of mouth around the community has allowed us to grow beyond our dreams!
The Inn features 8 individually designed guest rooms, with private ceramic tiled baths, a sitting area and linen closets upstairs (furniture, window treatments and lamps convey upstairs). There are separate living quarters for the Inn keepers with 2 bedrooms, full bath, office and living area. The kitchen is fully equipped with large island, quartz countertops, commercial dishwasher, commercial stainless sink, 4 ovens, gas stove - 6 burners, attached broiler and grill, overhead exhaust. Small kitchette area, breakfast nook, pantry, numerous storage areas off kitchen and abundant shelving for storage. The dining room will seat approximately 34 guests at the 2 10 Chippendale tables with 20 Chippendale chairs, or one of the 8 french or mahogany tables with 6 chairs at each (which convey with sale). It is a great place to celebrate many occassions, like birthdays, weddings, holiday events, meetings, anniversaries, showers, or even conferences. Formal brunch, lunch and dinner are special times at the Inn! Social time may be spent in the parlor for causal conversation, or relaxation on one of the 2 80 full length covered porches with ample rockers, or porch swings awaiting you overlooking the many flower gardens on the property!
