Hotel Josephine is located just off the town square in Beautiful downtown Holton Kansas. This historical property was completed in 1889 by prominent Holton resident A.D. Walker, who named the hotel after his daughter Josephine. Hotel Josephine is the oldest continuously operated hotel in the state of Kansas. There are older hotels in the state, but the Hotel Josephine has never shut its doors. Ownership decided to renovate the hotel in 2006 and work was completed in March of 2007. All efforts were made to try to keep the hotel in the period style and as original as possible, while still providing all the modern conveniences. The upper floor was renovated in a western motif common for the 1880's period. While the main floor was renovated in the Victorian style of the 1880's era. The hotel consists of eighteen rooms, eighteen and a half bathrooms, a conference room, Breakfast room and managers living quarters. The hotel still uses original antique furniture in many of the rooms ranging in dates from the late 1890's through the 1930's. And of course some rooms are furnished with modern furniture . We also have the majority of original guest registry's as well as some of the signatures of yesterdays figures such as president Grover Cleveland who was a guest at the hotel.

    This property is a great turnkey operation for a young couple or a corporation. And all amenities, furniture and history come complete with the hotel. The local area has a wide array of attractions from antique shopping to golf, boating, fishing, and hunting in the fall. Three local casinos also provide great opportunities to cater to instate and out of state travelers.
